ABSTRACT
This research aimed to assess the extent of participation among residents of Shijiazhuang in urban community governance, as well as their satisfaction with their involvement. A total of 462 participants were involved in the study, comprising 382 community residents and 80 community leaders. The data analysis revealed that participants engaged in urban community governance in Shijiazhuang rated their extent of participation as ‘great’ across various dimensions, including living environment, infrastructure, public safety, health, culture, education, sports, and welfare. Furthermore, their satisfaction with their participation was rated as ‘high’. However, urban community governance in Shijiazhuang faced several challenges, including limited participation due to lack of willingness, inadequate capacity, lack of motivation, and restricted channels, limited funds, and an inadequate legal system. Hence, the researcher proposed an action plan to improve the participation and satisfaction of participants in urban community governance in Shijiazhuang. The plan includes increasing willingness to participate, enhancing capacity to participate, increasing motivation to participate, establishing accessible channels, mobilizing funds, and establishing a legal system.
