ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate the extent to which ideological and political education is integrated into Big Data and Economic Law courses, assess the competence of teachers, and examine students’ attitudes toward these courses. A mixed research method was adopted, involving six teachers from the School of Economics and Management of Pingdingshan Industrial Vocational and Technical College during the 2024–2025 academic year and 386 randomly selected students from two majors. Quantitatively, correlational analysis was conducted to explore the relationship between teachers’ competence and students’ attitudes, while qualitatively, thematic analysis was used to examine issues in integrating ideological and political education. The findings revealed a high degree of integration of ideological and political education, with teachers receiving high praise for their knowledge, skills, and attitudes, and no significant differences based on background variables. Students demonstrated positive attitudes, and stronger teacher competence was associated with more favorable student attitudes toward the integration of ideological and political education. These results underscore the potential of a well-implemented integrated learning model to cultivate informed citizens and support a more comprehensive educational approach.
