THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CAREER GUIDANCE AND EMPLOYMENT COURSE IN RELATION TO THE STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE IN HUNAN ARTS AND CRAFTS VOCATIONAL COLLEGE

ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the significant relationship between the extent of implementation of career guidance and employment course and the students’ level of performance and satisfaction on the course, assessment of the participants on the extent of implementation of career guidance and employment course, students’ level of satisfaction with the instructional delivery of the career guidance and employment course, and the problems and challenges encountered by the participants in the implementation of the career guidance and employment course. By utilizing a mixed-methods research design, which combines quantitative and qualitative research design, inferential analysis, and thematic analysis were conducted on the relevant data. Results show that there are no significant relationships between the extent of implementation of the career guidance and employment course in terms of content and strategies/activities and the students’ level of satisfaction while there are significant relationships between the extent of implementation of the career guidance and employment course in terms of objectives, assessment and resources. Further, the results show that participants’ assessment on the extent of implementation of the career guidance and employment course is great extent. The participants’ assessment of the level of teachers’ competence in teaching the career guidance and employment course and students’ level of satisfaction with the instructional delivery of the career guidance and employment course is high.
