INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICE SYSTEM WITH DECISION SUPPORT

ABSTRACT

With the advancement of the global economy and technology, people’s demands for spiritual and cultural life have increased significantly, especially after satisfying their material needs. In response, governments have increasingly focused on enhancing citizens’ cultural experiences to achieve the goal of equal cultural services. To address this growing demand, the Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL) emerged as a service model that plays a critical role in promoting the sharing and exchange of cultural resources, while ensuring citizens’ equal access to cultural rights and interests. When analyzing the traditional book lending service model, the Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL) establishes a more comprehensive, document-sharing service model. This model is “reader-centered” and “library collection-centered,” and it bypasses traditional library intermediaries. From the perspective of business logic, the construction of the platform, system data integration, and its open, interconnected design overcome the limitations of individual library services. This approach offers a solution for fostering collaboration and resource-sharing among libraries. Furthermore, ILL leverages business data and user behavior data within the system to develop a book recommendation function tailored to readers’ preferences. The system platform was based on a three-layer architecture, which included a data layer, service layer, and presentation layer. The data layer handled data storage. The service layer completed functions using data, such as user management, book borrowing information management, and personalized book recommendations. The presentation layer provided the user interface (UI) and RESTful API for users and integration with other systems.
