ABSTRACT

This study aimed to examine the relationship between college students’ psychological well-being, their level of engagement in ice and snow sports, and their proficiency in these sports. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from college students in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, focusing on their participation intensity, skill level in ice and snow sports, and psychological well-being indicators, while accounting for regional factors such as climate conditions, cultural background, and availability of sports resources. In recent decades, ice and snow sports have gained global popularity due to globalization, improved facility accessibility, and the influence of major international sporting events. At the same time, the psychological well-being of college students has emerged as a central concern within holistic education frameworks. In China, the 2022 Winter Olympics significantly boosted participation in ice and
snow sports, particularly in Heilongjiang Province, where Qiqihar City has become a key area for promoting these activities among college students. Despite this growth, empirical research examining the psychological benefits of ice and snow sports participation among Chinese college students remains limited. By addressing this gap, the study provides evidence-based insights into how engagement and skill development in ice and snow sports are associated with students’ psychological well-being. The results are intended to inform educational policy, campus sports programming, and mental health initiatives, supporting the integrated development of physical activity and psychological health among college students.
