ABSTRACT
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the extent of implementation of the practicum program and students’ level of competence at Guangdong Vocational College of Foreign Language and Arts (GVCDA) in China. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 18 teachers and 319 students. The results indicate that both the practicum program and student competence were effectively implemented, with students demonstrating high levels of competence. While teachers’ demographic factors, such as age, gender, and education level, generally did not affect course implementation, years of teaching experience influenced assessment strategies. Gender, program of study, and course selection were found to impact students’ skill levels, though age did not. A significant relationship was identified between practicum implementation and student competence. Challenges included adapting to evolving work requirements and technology. Based on these findings, an action plan was developed to further enhance practicum courses and student competence.
