ABSTRACT
This study examined the relationship between the implementation of Human Resource Management (HRM) strategies and employee satisfaction at Meituan’s Beijing headquarters. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 278 full-time employees through a structured questionnaire measuring four HRM dimensions: recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and compensation and benefits. Quantitative analysis employed descriptive statistics, t-tests/ANOVA, and Pearson correlation, while qualitative data from open-ended questions were analyzed thematically. Results revealed that Meituan implements HRM strategies to a great or very great extent across all dimensions, with training and development and compensation and benefits receiving the highest ratings. Employee satisfaction levels were correspondingly high, particularly in training and development and compensation and benefits. Significant positive correlations were found between each HRM strategy and its corresponding satisfaction dimension, indicating that employees’ satisfaction is strongly linked to their perceptions of strategy implementation. However, gaps were identified in realistic job previews during recruitment, fairness and transparency in performance evaluations, and perceived equity in access to development opportunities. Age, position level, and years of service significantly influenced satisfaction ratings, while gender showed no differences. The study proposes an action plan to enhance HRM implementation and employee satisfaction, contributing empirical evidence on HRM effectiveness in Chinese platform enterprises.
