ABSTRACT

This study investigates the extent of engagement in aerobic exercise among obese female college students their physical and emotional well-being. It also assesses the relationship between aerobic exercise engagement and physical health status and emotional well-being. There were 742 participants selected through random sampling. The study utilized a mixed-method combining quantitative and qualitative research approach, specifically employing a descriptive-correlational research design. The findings revealed that the participants’ assessments of their engagement in aerobic exercise across cognitive, behavioral, and affective domains were high. Similarly, their assessments of emotional well-being in terms of community/belonging, coping/stress management, purpose/meaning, and subjective well-being were also high. The high levels of engagement in aerobic exercise and emotional well-being among participants suggest that regular aerobic activity improve both physical and emotional health. This implies that promoting aerobic exercise could be a strategy for improving overall well-being in obese female college students.
