ABSTRACT

This study examined the relationship between emotional status and creative tendencies among first- and second-year students at Wuxi City Vocational College, China, using a mixed research design. Data were collected through the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and the Williams Creativity Tendency Scale, with purposive sampling employed. Statistical analyses included frequency and percentage distributions to describe participants’ profiles, chi-square tests to assess differences across profile variables, and correlations to explore the relationship between emotional status and creativity tendencies. Results revealed a negative correlation between positive emotions and creativity dimensions such as adventurousness, curiosity, and challenge. Conversely, negative emotions were significantly associated with the imaginative dimension but not with other creative aspects. Based on the findings, action plans were proposed to address the identified challenges.
