ABSTRACT

The study aimed to assess the implementation of digital transformation in physical education instruction at St. Paul University Philippines. Mixed research approach through descriptive-correlational design and thematic analysis was used. The data were collected through online survey with the 11 physical education teachers at the basic education and college levels of St. Paul University Philippines. Results of the descriptive analysis showed that the participants’ level of knowledge of digital transformation in physical education instruction is very high, and they implemented digital transformation in physical education instruction to a very great extent. In addition, inferential tests revealed that there exists no significant correlation between the participants’ level of knowledge of digital transformation in physical education and their extent of implementation of digital transformation in the subject along classroom management; however, there are significant correlations between the participants’ level of knowledge of digital transformation and lesson planning, instructional resources, strategies and activities, and learning assessment. The problems and challenges encountered by the participants in the implementation of digital transformation in physical education instruction include limited technological infrastructure and accessibility, inadequate professional development, and insufficient resources. Considering the study’s salient findings, the researchers designed a plan of action to enhance teachers’ implementation of digital transformation in physical education instruction.
