ABSTRACT

This study aimed to examine whether there were significant differences in the health status of elderly individuals with hypertension before and after the implementation of the MENEPI program. Using a pre-experimental design, the study assessed physical, psychological, and social health statuses before and following an intervention delivered through an electronic health promotion platform. The MENEPI model integrates multiple therapeutic components, including mood management to address depressive symptoms, Otago exercises to enhance physical activity, group activity therapy to support cognitive function, and relaxation therapy to improve sleep quality. Data were collected systematically and analyzed using SPSS through processes of editing, coding, data entry, and computerized processing. The results demonstrated that the MENEPI model had a statistically significant positive effect on physical health status and social health status, with both outcomes showing p values of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Although the psychological health status yielded a p-value of 0.018, the study reported that no meaningful change was observed between pre- and post-intervention measurements for this domain. In addition, a significant improvement was found in the overall health status of participants after the intervention compared with baseline conditions (p-value = 0.001). These findings indicate that the electronic health promotion–based MENEPI model is effective in improving key aspects of physical and social well-being among elderly individuals with hypertension and may be a useful approach for health professionals and community health cadres in supporting chronic disease management and quality of life, while highlighting the need for further exploration of its psychological and long-term impacts.
