ABSTRACT

This research aims to assess the participants’ extent of participation and level of satisfaction in community governance modernization in Zhuhai City, China. The study employed a mixed-method approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative research design. There were 400 participants involved in the study, comprising 350 community residents and 50 community workers from Zhuhai City. The results revealed that participants engaged in community governance modernization to a “great extent.” Moreover, their level of satisfaction in terms of their participation was “high” across dimensions, such as rules of community operation, overall value identification of the community, public service and infrastructure, organizational functioning, and collaborative governance. It also identified challenges encountered in the implementation of the community governance modernization in Zhuhai City.
