ABSTRACT
This study examines the relationship between physical exercise and sports values among university students at Qiannan Normal University. The participants’ engagement in physical exercise was assessed across several domains, revealing a high level of involvement, with an overall mean score of 2.70, interpreted as “Great Extent.” In terms of sports values, the students demonstrated a strong commitment across all dimensions, including teamwork, fair play, and perseverance, with an overall mean score of 3.07, indicating “High” sports values. A significant positive correlation of 0.627 with a p-value of 0.000 was found between physical exercise and sports values, suggesting that participation in physical activities contributes to the development of ethical behavior and social skills. However, students faced challenges such as the failure to develop regular exercise habits, high academic pressure, and lack of exercise partners. The study concludes that regular physical exercise is crucial for fostering sports values and recommends promoting physical activity through campus events, varied sports offerings, optimized class schedules, and professional guidance. Future research could explore similar studies at other institutions to further investigate the relationship between physical exercise and sports values.
