ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between research management and performance at the Guangdong Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (GDITCM). By surveying employee and client participants, the study analyzed the basic characteristics of the participants (including age, gender, highest level of education, position, and years of service), and assessed the extent to which GDITCM had implemented the research management process (project establishment, implementation, mid-term inspection and adjustment, and acceptance and evaluation of results). The study also examined whether there were significant differences in employees’ assessments of the extent of implementation of research management processes due to personal characteristic variables. In addition, the study assessed the performance of GDITCM in four dimensions: financial, internal business process, customer relationship, and learning and growth, and analyzed the differences in performance evaluations across participant characteristic groups. The study further explored the relationship between the degree of implementation of research management processes and performance levels, and identified the problems and challenges encountered in the implementation process. Finally, an action plan to improve the implementation and performance level of research management processes in GDITCM was proposed. The results of the study are significant for optimizing research management and improving institutional performance.
