ABSTRACT
The Plastic Bottles Recycling Reward System with AI Application is a technology-driven initiative designed to promote sustainable waste management and environmental stewardship through incentivized recycling. The system utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, including image recognition and machine learning algorithms, to accurately identify, classify, and count recyclable plastic bottles deposited by users. This automation ensures precise sorting, minimizes human error, and enhances operational efficiency in recycling collection points. The study employed a descriptive–developmental research design, focusing on the design, development, and evaluation of the system’s functionality, usability, and environmental impact. The system architecture integrates a camera module, database, and mobile application interface, allowing users to monitor their recycling activity in real time. Users earn points or digital tokens as rewards, which can be redeemed for goods, services, or discounts from partner establishments. System evaluation, guided by the ISO/IEC 25010 Software Quality Standards, assessed the system’s functional suitability, usability, efficiency, and reliability. Results indicated a high level of compliance with these quality metrics, demonstrating the system’s robustness and user satisfaction. Moreover, findings showed that integrating AI technology with a reward-based mechanism significantly improved recycling efficiency and user engagement, while increasing public awareness of environmental sustainability. This study concludes that AI-powered reward systems provide an innovative and effective solution for advancing circular economy practices, reducing plastic waste, and supporting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to responsible consumption and environmental protection.
