ABSTRACT

This study explored the integration of IoT-driven solutions in irrigation water management to address challenges in agricultural sustainability and water efficiency. Utilizing real-time sensor data, including soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and rainfall, the system intelligently automates irrigation scheduling based on environmental conditions. A decision tree algorithm was implemented to predict the optimal timing for irrigation, with soil moisture emerging as the most significant predictor. The developed system was tested for compliance with the ISO/IEC 25010 Software Quality Standards. Results from IT experts showed a very great degree of compliance across most quality criteria, including functional suitability (M = 4.77), portability (M = 4.83), and compatibility (M = 4.75), with an overall mean of 4.58—interpreted as a very great extent of compliance. These findings demonstrate the potential of smart irrigation systems in promoting sustainable agricultural practices, improving water use efficiency, and aiding farmers in data-driven decision-making.
