ABSTRACT
This study aimed to explore the relationship between emotion regulation strategies and mental health among high school students, focusing on how effective emotional regulation can contribute to their psychological well-being. Using a mixed research approach, this study employed survey methods to assess high school students’ emotional regulation abilities and mental health status. The participants of this study were 230 high school students in Zunyi Aerospace High School. The findings reveal that high school students, as a unique group in a critical stage of physical and mental development, are highly susceptible to emotional fluctuations due to social changes and academic demands. Effective use of emotion regulation strategies, such as cognitive reappraisal and problem-solving, is strongly correlated with maintaining positive and stable mental health. The study also highlights that students with stronger emotion regulation abilities are better equipped to cope with stress and exhibit fewer signs of psychological distress. These results underscore the importance of developing targeted interventions and support programs to improve emotion regulation skills among high school students, ultimately fostering their mental health and resilience.
