ABSTRACT

This study aimed to assess the extent of implementation of Grade 7 Mathematics Curriculum towards developing a plan of action to strengthen its implementation among the secondary schools in the Third District of Isabela. Mixed research approach through descriptive design and thematic analysis was used. A survey with 23 mathematics teachers and 390 students from 14 public secondary schools was used to collect the data. Results of the descriptive analysis showed that the Grade 7 Mathematics Curriculum was implemented in terms of goals and objectives, content/performance/competency standards, teaching-learning strategies, teaching-learning resources, and assessment tools to a great extent. The problems and challenges encountered by the participants in the implementation of the Grade 7 Mathematics Curriculum include lack of instructional materials and insufficient time to cover all topics due to numerous school activities. To address these issues, the participants suggested that schools provide continuous professional development for mathematics teachers, ensure the availability of reference materials, and adopt diversified teaching strategies to enhance learners’ performance. Considering the study’s salient findings, the researcher designed a plan of action to enhance the implementation of the Grade 7 Mathematics Curriculum.
