ABSTRACT

This study examined the student government of the Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology, emphasizing its role in student self-governance and its influence on students’ campus experience and holistic development. Specifically, it investigated the relationship between the extent of implementation of student government management, the leadership skills of student leaders, and students’ satisfaction with student government management. A theoretical framework was developed to explore the connection and potential influence of mechanisms between student leaders’ leadership abilities and students’ evaluation and satisfaction with organizational management. Findings revealed that student government management across the assessed dimensions was generally well implemented, as perceived by both student leaders and the general student body. Student leaders were also evaluated as possessing a high level of leadership skills, and students expressed a high degree of satisfaction with the management of the student government. Based on these results, the study proposes targeted strategies and recommendations to further strengthen student government management in the institution and in similar universities, with the aim of better supporting student development and fostering a more harmonious, efficient, and responsive campus environment.
