ABSTRACT

The study aimed to assess the relationship between the integration of Art Education with selected disciplines and students’ level of artistic competence. Using questionnaires and the weighted average method, the research examined senior high school students at Shuren Middle School in Handan City, Hebei Province, during the second semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. The study evaluated students’ understanding of course content, mastery of professional art skills, motivation and initiative in learning, changes in learning attitudes, course performance, and challenges encountered in practice. Findings revealed that the integration of Art Education with other subjects significantly enhanced students’ artistic competence, particularly in hands-on skills, spatial thinking, aesthetic judgment, expressive abilities, and observation. Furthermore, diverse teaching strategies and interdisciplinary resources improved students’ grasp of core knowledge across subjects while promoting creative thinking and problem-solving. Based on these outcomes, the study proposed an innovative approach centered on the “Nature Drawing Board” to further strengthen interdisciplinary teaching practices.
