ABSTRACT
This study explored the relationship between the students’ extent of engagement in the sports association activities and their level of professional abilities. Taking PE major students at Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology as participants, this paper analyzed the students’ extent of engagement in the sports association activities and their level of professional abilities as well as the problems and challenges they have encountered thus, proposing an action plan for the improvement of college students’ vocational ability. It was found out that sports association activities can not only improve the physical quality and sports skills of college students, but also have a positive impact on their professional abilities such as teamwork ability, communication ability, leadership and time management. In addition, participation in sports clubs can also help students develop the spirit of courage to challenge, as well as enhance their self-confidence and social adaptability. Moreover, sports association activities are important ways to improve the professional ability of college students. Colleges and universities should pay attention to and encourage college students to actively participate in sports association activities so as to promote their all-round development.
